Four years ago when the citizens of Chesapeake re-elected me to represent them on their School Board, my vision was clear: For Chesapeake Public Schools to be synonymous with educational excellence. I am happy to report that over the past four years, I have contributed greatly toward achieving this goal: excellence for ALL children.
Families continue to view Chesapeake as a great place to live and raise children, largely in part to the "world-class" public education we offer. Our educational system also benefits businesses in that we continue to produce a well-trained and qualified workforce. In order to sustain this level of student achievement, I strongly support the continued investment in staff development for teachers in the area of instructional best practices.
As you are aware, the recent downturn in the economy has impacted all school divisions across the country. In these tough times, students, parents, teachers and citizens deserve and need an experienced, knowledgeable and reliable leader such as myself, who will foster responsible budget solutions in support of a high quality public education system.
As I look to the future, my vision for the next four years is simple:
